Ah, Alan, it is indeed the Alex Silbey who went to JFK. I won't be able to attend the reunion, although I am frequently in Europe on business. I took a look at your website, and just seeing all the names brought back a lot of memories.
I was shocked to see that Nina Becker was listed as deceased. I hadn't heard this - can you tell me anything about this?
I'm married, father of two, living in Burlingame, California near San Francisco. I designed computers for many years, then moved into management and am now working for a small software startup company heading up their professional services group.
I maintained my interest in bicycling and racquetball until the kids came along. Now Spencer, 3 years, and Skyler, 7 months are my hobbies.
Do you run into people from high school a lot? We should have a site listing everyone's biography so we can catch up.

will not be possible for me to join up with you,I'm verry sorry,it's
obvious that it will be a lovely evening and I'm sure you had a lot to

You'll probably all fall over to hear that I've begun studies at the
University of Konstanz,concerning Germ/Am/Engl.Literature and Arts. There are four Klausuren to be written in Jan/Febr.,please all sit on your thumbs!!
I'll be in Berlin around March 1st,in case anyone would like to contact
me - it could be possible to call me up at my parents house and

Liebe 25-Jahr-Klasse,
Hallo Alan,
leider kann ich zu dem Treffen nicht kommen. Das ist wirklich sehr
bedauerlich. Doch die Alternative war zu verlockend, um sie abzusagen: eine Woche eine US- Amerikanische Konferenz und Exkursion in Taiwan. Es geht um die Geologie der Insel, insbesondere ihre Erdbeben und Erdrutsche.
Nach 16 Jahren im Ausland (Zürich, Cambridge, Oxford, Bern) sind wir 2001 wieder nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt, was uns mittlerweile selber wie Ausland vorkommt. An der Universität Hannover habe ich einen Lehrstuhl für "Geochemie" bekommen. Eigentlich geht es um Massenspektrometrie. In Wirklichkeit beschäftigt man sich aber 90% der Zeit mit bizarren Verwaltungsdingen. Ein seltsam kompliziertes land ist das hier ! Ich warte noch auf den Moment, wo mir der Durchbruch in Form von Durchblick gelingt.
Naja, bis dahin halten wir uns mit Reisen wie oben beschrieben bei Laune.
